Day 132 — August 27th

Hello all, this is Joy. It looks like the hikers are passing the 2200 mile marker today, so, 450 miles left after today. They are heading to Trout Lake, WA, where they will pick up a resupply box and find a place to sleep/shower/laundry. I expect them to arrive tomorrow (Saturday). Arriving into a small (very small) mountain town, on a weekend, is difficult because of the limited accommodations, so we will see what we can come up with!

I haven’t heard much from the hikers this week — but being quiet is typically a good thing. No big issues ahead of them and no emergencies, so quiet is good!

After Trout Lake, they will have 4 more stopping points to pick up resupply boxes. Since they are getting in more remote areas, buying food is NOT an option, so we will be replying on the USPS and UPS to make these deliveries in a timely manner! Also, since more boxes have had to be shipped lately, I find myself wondering around Krogers, looking for possible breakfast and lunch ideas. (Suppers are a freeze-dried hiking meal.) I’m running out of ideas! This is tough since the food item cannot be refrigerated, Kendra cold soaks a lot of her food, one doesn’t eat peanut butter and one doesn’t eat meat. I’ve gotten messages from them saying they are sick of mashed potatoes, Ramen noodles are not filling enough and no more salmon packets, lol! So Friday night, you may see me looking dazed and confused in Krogers again!

That’s all I’ve got for now. Happy weekend, everyone!!
