Day 124 – August 19th – Zero Day in Bend, OR – Reach 2,000 Mile Mark

Hello – Bucket here.  After a very cold, rainy and windy day on August 17th, Sage and I were able to reach Santium Pass and then get a hitch to Sisters, OR.  We passed the 2,000 mile trail mark approximately 1 mile before the Pass.  We were able to get a hotel room that evening in Sisters.  On August 18th we walked around Sisters until approximately 2:00 pm.  We were offered a ride to Bend by 2 school teachers in Sisters returning from a day hike.  Joy had secured us a room at a Days Inn in Bend and we got here yesterday afternoon.  We were able to do the essentials here- shower, laundry, food resupply and electronics recharged.  We were able to walk around Bend today and see a lot of the city.

Tomorrow morning we have a ride arranged to drive us 2.5 hours around the next fire closure ahead.  After that we have 68 miles to Cascade Locks, OR – – which is right on the Oregon/Washington border.  After a stay in Cascade Locks we will continue north for approximately 500 more miles to reach the Canadian border.

I downloaded all of our latest photos since Crater Lake, OR.  As always, thank you to everyone who is following our journey and provided comments- we greatly appreciate it!
