On January 19th, we waited online (along with thousands of other potential hikers) on the Pacific Crest Trail Association (pcta.org) website to apply for a PCT Long Distance Permit. After about 3-1/2 hours, both my daughter and I were able to apply for the permits. The PCTA limits through hikers starting the trail to 50 people/day, and the calendar is completely full for most of March, all of April, and most of May 2021. The start date we were able to obtain was April 18th. So our permits are still “pending review”, but we are moving forward with this targeted start date.

Let the adventures begin!
Did you get the permit?
Clicked the Bucket link on the Five Pair websie and was transported here as I am getting reacquainted with rudimentary HTML and readying to renew those efforts and Five Pair with some friends is heading back to the AT in March.
Jim
Hi Jim – you are Five Pair’s husband – correct? I know we met on the AT when you were coming to pick up Five Pair for a wedding. It’s funny – my wife and I just (re)-created this website about 1 week ago and have not really started working with it. But yes – my daughter and I received our PCT Long Distance Permits and we are scheduled to start the PCT on April 18th. We hope to use this blog to document our trip.
So is Five Pair doing the entire AT again in March? Tell her I said “hello” and best wishes on her trip! Thank you for contacting us! Ron McAdams (Bucket)
