Day 51 — June 7th

Hello, Joy here. I actually received a text from Ron yesterday afternoon from the Garmin. They reached the Crabtree Ranger Station at around 3:30pm on Sunday and that is where they were stopping to camp for the night. They were planning on going up Mt. Whitney today (Monday), and as I mentioned in yesterday’s post, it is a 17 mile round trip to do this mountain, so they were going to wake up at 3:15am this morning. I did receive a text this morning at 3:45am saying they started the climb up. I’m assuming when they complete this today, they will camp at the ranger station again tonight. Tomorrow (Tuesday) they’ll continue on the PCT trail.

Ron said he couldn’t remember the last time they got a shower or did laundry, but they were both filthy, and asked for an additional day in Independence, CA. So I booked them two nights at a motel. This place will also do their laundry! They expect to be there on Wednesday.

I’m glad they are doing Mt. Whitney while they are there. I’m looking forward to seeing their pictures!
